And now the future...

Now that the Strongman competition is done it is time to switch focus. Granted I wasn't training for the competition at all but, I didn't want to undertake anything too new. I have an RKC at the end of the summer here in San Diego (super nice, now I don't have to fly to the buck ass middle of no where). I was reading a few things here and there about how tough it is and all the work that is required etc. I suppose I better start doing more kettlebell movements so, I am.

I bought Kenneth Jay's Viking Warrior Conditioning and decided to do that 2-3 days a week. 15:15; 8 reps with the 16kg bell.

I am too cheap to blow more money on a 32kg kettlebell right now for clean & presses so I will use the 24 that I already have. Although, it's not really heavy enough so I will do some clean and jerks barbell style instead. A press doesn't count unless it starts on the ground.

I always love to squat. I believe I will alternate front and back squatting. Use front for volume and back for heavy load.

I have become a big fanboy of the Kalos Sthenos style of Turkish Get Up. I keep doing those for 5 minutes almost everyday.

I hate pull-ups...but, I want to be good at them so I will do them. Dammit...I tend to just try to do at least 50 every lifting day. I work in a gym so I can walk by, bang out 10 and then wait an hour before going again. I was thinking of spending at least one day a week doing some pull-up ladders I got from a few rock climbers. They have the best pullup strength I have ever seen so, I will trust their judgment.

Any strongman day that comes up, I want to try to work farmer's walk. Why? Because I want to, that's why. Also will be doing sled work with some power lifters in the next few weeks, fun!!!

This is the last thing. I hate running but, I want to give something a try after reading Born to Run by Chris McDougall. I want to run up Cowle's Mountain in my vibrams. the book made me question a few assumptions I had about running so, I want to see for myself. When I get up the nerve to do it (It's only 3 miles total, 1.5 up and 1.5 down) I will tell everyone how it went.

Lot's of fun ideas to play with and I can't wait to get started...wait I already have. Did VWC on Monday and today is Clean & Jerks (KB and barbell), Front Squats and Pull-ups!
